Each stack of three is omni but the combined output from the four stacks forms a cardioid pattern
Cool, thanks Dave. This has been a really great design to follow along with.
"and perhaps a new name suggestion has been put forward for the Vortex. This one may be a hard one to beat!"
I hope it's not "swastika of bass thunder" ;-) Sorry, had to be said.
very cool that your dad was there to hang out!
You wouldn't have been teasin' Taco, possibly!?!
Better be careful you may encounter the chihuahua jaws of death...
Lectrosonics mentioned their wireless RTA solution at BSMC: http://tr.im/uRBR . Claim is it's very flat and with no compansion.
Were those diagrams made in excel? I'd love to have a copy of that spreadsheet...
I am enjoying your discussion of cardioid subs. Keep up the good work!
Yes, I have looked at the Lectrosonics units and they look cool.
For the method I am using, the compansion is not an issue. All I need is a simple frequency response to see that it sounds similar. For anything more accurate, I will run the wires.
Hi ,
Dave ask senheiser , i remember they ask me about someone wanted to have a reference mic hf and they do for him some modification . ( maybe expensive )
Hi, Dave Rat.
Thank you for you'r sub system data.
You'r sub system design is wonderful.
but, i have some question.
sub delay and SB28 cardiod patten design.
can i ask this?
1. In SB28 cardiod sub woofer setup. Why reversed floor SB28 only one? 3 of TOP is Forward and 1 of Bottom is Rear.
I try to find that why reversed only floor SB28. but i can't find this reason.
2. Keyword is "DELAY" ... Why changed to sound direction? because phase? You change to one, tow, three, four sub woofers dealy time indivisualy. I found to chaged sound direction.
Hi Dave,
I'm interested to see that stack C has been rotated so that it faces the stage, can you tell me what is the reasoning behind that? Also, am I right in thinking that stack A is the reference stack, stacks B and C stacks both delayed by 3 5/8 ft and stack D by 6 7/8 feet?
I'm hoping to try this configuration later on this week in a medium sized stadium, in order to get some really long-throw sub, with minimum spill onto the stage. But the stage is somewhat strangely located in the corner of the stadium, aiming diagonally across the pitch. I reckon I need to steer the stage left stack a bit more to the front and the stage right stack a bit more to the side, can you give me an idea how to make these adjustments?
Many thanks for your help!
Hey man, very awesome blog you have (I'm a muso from Melbourne, Australia). If there's any chance, I'd love to buy your Xootr ex3 off of you, been searching everywhere for one! Let me know =)
Cheers!
Neil
Ha! No way I will sell the Xootr, at least while it still lives. I did hear that there are some newer ultra fast, ultra light scooters out and about, so if ya find out who makes them, let me know.
